Deyrulzafaran Monastery is located on a hill 4 km outside of Mardin in Southeastern Anatolia. It is an important religious place for Syriac Orthodox Christians in this region, called “Tur Abdin”.
For 640 years until 1932, the monastery was the residence of the Syriac Orthodox Patriarchs. Today the Monastery of Deyrulzafaran is the residence of the Archbishop of Mardin, visited by Syriac Orthodox Christians from all over the world.

Hasankeyf is located at the Tigris River in Southeastern Anatolia in the Turkish province of Batman. A fortress was built here by Byzantines in the 4th century. In the 7th cenury Arabs conquered the place. In the 12th century the city became a center under the reign of Turkish Artuklu (Artuqids). 1232 Arabic Ayubids controlled the city, in 1260 it was captured by the Mongols.
