They are usually sitting at the entrances of the large mosques, waiting for customers, the perfume seller. Also they are often to be found at the Beyazıt Square in one of the old quartiers of Istanbul.

All the day long anglers are standing on Galata Bridge, which spans the Golden Horn, connecting Istanbul’s quarters Eminönü and Galata. One by one they try to catch fish to sell it to restaurants, snacks or to have a meal for their families at home.
“We must have patience!”, told me a young man, who is every day on Galata Bridge. Ferry boats are constantly driving under the bridge, so the anglers have to pull up fast their fishing rods, that they are not torn into the depth.
