The natural chalk terraces Pamukkale (means in Turkish “Cotton Castle”) are located near the city of Denizli in the Aegean Region of Turkey. Earthquakes in the region gave rise to the emergence of a number of thermal springs with strong calcareous water, this created Pamukkale. The natural landscape is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
